2019 MOTOROLA RAZR, FEATURES AND PRICE LEAKED BUT LAUNCH DATE POSTPONED

2019 Motorola Razr

The 2019 Motorola Razr is yet a reboot from the tech-giant ‘Motorola’ popularly known with flip-phones. This was officially confirmed early this year as an existing and indeed will launch with the subject name from the company, however, to ascertain this, an official Bluetooth certification body confirmed that the phone will use Bluetooth 5.0 technology.

It was also figured out that the rumor of the re-imagined handset was fueled by the successful relaunch of Nokia 3310 two years ago, however, the new Razr will purportedly combine the hinged design of 2004 flip-phone coupled with a folding OLED display. The later (folding OLED display) is an indication that the new Motorola foldable-screen phone will compete directly with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X, and the unnamed dual-folding Xiaomi.

At the moment, it’s not clear when people will get their hands on this fascinating device. But a lot of information about this foldable device viewed as next-generation Motorola Razr has emerged before its release date. Based on the company’s announcement, Razr will no longer launch this year as scheduled earlier, but next year January.

Howbeit, there seems to be a twist with the device accessibility, the reason being that most people willing to cough up the cash will practically not be able to lay their hands on this smartphone. This is based on reports that emerged from GSM Arena, which claim that the 2019 Motorola Razr will be exclusive to U.S. mobile carrier ‘Verizon’, adding that only 200,000 units of this device will be available. With this, its evident things are still unclear whether store shelves outside of the United States will have access to this smartphone.

Due to changes from other tech giants that promised the launch of their foldable screen devices, it’s not clear when people will eventually clap their eyes on this long-rumored 2019 Motorola Razr, but could be the reason of the delay! According to Motorola VP ‘Dan Dery’s claim, the company wants to get its flexible device into the hands of its customers’ “no later” than its rivals. But with the delay from Samsung and Huawei Mate X, a similar scenario should be expected from Motorola.

In another development, reports emerging from Engadget claim that the technology company confirmed that it’s already working on the device that will offer pliable display, adding that it has “no intention of coming later than everybody else in the market”.

While we await this long-rumored Motorola, bear in mind that Samsung Galaxy Fold is now on sale.

Speaking of the Motorola design, users shouldn’t expect the opposite, the company is expected to keep the same industrial design of the original July 2004 Razr V3 but with modern features. This is widely believed to be the 2019 rebirth of the Motorola Razr. According to the patent schematics and supply chain rumors, when you open up the new Motorola, you can figure out how much has changed.

The new Razr will have a foldable OLED display with a hinge. The hinge which is found on the old Razr will be hidden from view by a pliable display whenever the user is using the device, also is the expansive screen with a widescreen aspect ratio that will enable your follow-up on mobile BoxOffice or watch the latest blockbuster with those surrounding black bars.

Notable potential changes that will be figured out are the position of the single rear-mounted camera and the fingerprint scanner that is just below it. This is as a result of a recent development from Motorola and has moved every model in its new Moto G7 range to a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner in a bid to increase the size of the display. And this equally meant that Motorola will use a notch at the top of the screen for the earpiece, and maybe a selfie-camera.

In another development – emerging from XDA Developers, the Razr external screen will potentially not be able to run all Android app installed on this smartphone, however, the company is believed to be limiting the touchscreen functionality to a select few device apps, such as Moto Display, Moto Camera app, and the Moto Actions. At this point, it is understood Motorola is giving it a different approach compared with that of Samsung Galaxy Fold, which treats its 4.6-inch Cover Display as a traditional smartphone screen that runs all the applications the foldable large screen is enabled to run.

Amazing feature to note is whenever the Google Assistant is triggered with the wake phrase “OK, Google” or “Hey Google” when the phone is flipped closed, the device will respond with the Assistant animation which will be shown on the external display to inform users that the smartphone actually heard the command. While on the other hand, this function could be disabled via the phone settings, whichever way the user of this phone will be prompted to “flip open to unlock” either with the aid of a PIN, password or pattern.

It was reported the company has been experimenting with the introduction of the foldable display on the outside of the phone, but the company has declined from that approach. However, this was figured out when Motorola’s ‘Dan Dery’ was asked if similar design deployed in Huawei Mate X will be introduced, he said:

We have been testing a plastic OLED device with plastic film on top. The fact that you’re touching [that kind of screen] with your nails is scratching it. It has a short life right away; it starts dying the day you unpack it. But it’s beautiful. That first day, it’s beautiful”.

Albeit, Samsung Galaxy Fold is currently at the store shelves, but the 2019 Motorola Razr is nowhere to be found.

When the new Motorola Razr is released, the price will run at $1,499 at the point of its official launch. If you would ask me, it’s pretty high.
