Emerging news claim Google acquires AppSheet, a mobile-application-building platform that allows no-code. This will see the eight-year-old company team-up with Android and tech giant in developing codeless cloud service after it has raised millions of dollars according to reports.

At the moment the service is already integrated with Google Cloud and integrating with Google Forms and Google Sheets which will also work with other tools, such as Salesforce, Office 365, AWS DynamoDB, Box and more. Surprisingly, Google in its statement promised it will not discontinue its support to other platforms if eventually, the deal closes.

AppSheet service will see Google offer a simpler process that will enable companies to develop mobile apps without writing a single line of code. Should companies deploy this measure! Google acquiring AppSheet will provide answers, being that it works by sourcing data from a database, spreadsheet or form, and in turn, uses the field or column identity or names as the basis for building an app.

Meanwhile, the co-founder and CEO of AppSheet ‘Praveen Seshadri’ have this story often repeated by startup founders, which sees an opportunity to expand his platform and market reach under Google in ways he couldn’t as an independent company. Based on this he stated that,

There is great potential to leverage and integrate more deeply with many of Google’s amazing assets like G Suite and Android to improve the functionality, scale, and performance of AppSheet. Moving forward, we expect to combine AppSheet’s core strengths with Google Cloud’s deep industry expertise in verticals like financial services, retail, and media and entertainment”.

Responding to this development, ‘Amit Zavery’ also stated in a blog post while announcing the acquisition, stressing that it’s about providing everyone with an opportunity to develop mobile applications, even companies with traditional developers to build a mobile presence.

This acquisition helps enterprises empower millions of citizen developers to more easily create and extend applications without the need for professional coding skills”.
