
Netflix ANNOUNCES A LIVE-ACTION ‘Assassin’s Creed’ SERIES, COMING SHORTLY

The streaming giant Netflix announces its partnering with Ubisoft to adapt its long-running Assassin’s Creed into its live-action series and will be the first of its several new series that will be coming to Netflix. However, the agreement between the two companies, according to reports will “tap into the iconic video game’s trove of dynamic stories with global mass appeal for adaptations of live-action, animated, and anime series”.
The subject live-action is considered to be in its early stage, and as such, will require a showrunner. Though the timing as to when it will take effect and what it entails is yet unknown, howbeit, the franchise which is known for historical combination, and telling the story of a secret society of assassins with “genetic memory” coupled with their centuries-long battle from the Crusades to Vikings comes in a modern style.
“From its breathtaking historic worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy”, according to Netflix original series vice president ‘Peter Friedlander’s’ statement.
The streaming giant has already found success in what The Verge classified as a live adaptation of another beloved game series, The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill – a fantasy book series that became popular via a video game. While in addition to the Netflix announcement, it recently placed an eight-episode order for “Resident Evil”, also another video game franchise that was previously adapted for the big screen.
More so, as Netflix fans and members await the animated series of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, it was also figured that this isn’t the first time Ubisoft is bringing its sci-fi world to the screen.
