As claims over election fraud deepen, Trump fires Christopher Krebs over his response that the latest U.S. election which he called “the most secured in American history” was free and fair. President ‘Donald Trump’ on Tuesday night via a tweet fired his administration’s most senior Cybersecurity official charged with the responsibility to secure the presidential election.

It’s understood there are concerns over Mr. Trump’s false declarations that the presidency was stolen from him through fraudulent ballots coupled with software glitches that switched millions of votes. While prior to the latest development, the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Mr. Krebs had systematically disputed Trump’s false declarations.

In view of this, the latest action from Mr. Trump is in no doubt a preceding act, as observed in the same way he fired his defense secretary last week including other officials throughout his presidency, CNN also learned. This saw Mr. Trump announce via his Twitter that,

“The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 Election was highly inaccurate”, he wrote after 7 p.m., “in that there were massive improprieties and fraud – including dead people voting, Poll Watchers not allowed into polling locations, ‘glitches’ in the voting machines which changed votes from Trump to Biden, late voting, and many more”.

This goes on to show that Trump firing Christopher Krebs wasn’t a surprise, however, to ascertain his position, Trump made it clear that Mr. Krebs “has been terminated” as the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Noting that this is a post Mr. Trump appointed him.

In another dimension, President Donald Trump in a bid to tarnish the outcome of the latest election equally flexed the power of his office on Tuesday, which is expected to see an election audit in Georgia come to conclusion by Wednesday ahead of the official certification of the ballot on Friday. Also according to reports, results were largely tracking original tallies that handed victory to Biden, a development that is further tarnishing Trump’s claims of widespread fraud.

It was noted that the former Microsoft executive, has been hailed for his two years preparing states for the challenges of the votes in recent days, that saw hardening systems against Russian interference in addition to setting up a “rumor control” website designed to guide against misinformation. Funny enough, the foreign interference many feared failed to materialize, instead, the misinformation emerged from the White House.

Afterward, it observed that Mr. Krebs was reluctant to respond to questions for comment. But, after his firing, tweeted from his personal account: “Honored to serve. We did it right. Defend Today, Secure Tomorrow. #Protect2020”.
